    Registration Is Easy

Before registering advisers and members, a chapter adviser must:

    New Advisers Only:

apply for affiliation for the school (see Resources--Adviser Resources--Affiliation on this web site).  Once the chapter is established with both the National Center and the California Department of Education through the affiliation process, the adviser can proceed to the next step:  registering members.  Questions about these steps may be directed to our Chapter Support Center at hello@cafbla.org.

California chapter advisers need to go to the national website online registration screen in order to register and receive an invoice to pay dues for each year's student members. Anyone (advisers and students) may create accounts on the national web site, but an adviser will need to make sure that their account is connected to their chapter by completing the Chapter Organization Packet (COP) and the state affiliation form first.  For assistance with connecting the adviser account to the membership system after completion of the COP and notification of approval for state affiliation, advisers may need to contact membership@fbla.org in order to expedite the process.

All California professional members should be registered by completing the California Professional Membership Application Form (also on the Adviser Resources) and mailing it to the State Business and Program Manager (address on CONTACTS page for STATE MANAGEMENT TEAM under ABOUT).

Watch Out for the "MONEY RECEIVED BY" Deadlines!

With our use of the national online membership registration system, it is critical that everyone understand that ALL DEADLINES INVOLVING MEMBERSHIPS ARE DATES BY WHICH MONEY MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE NATIONAL OFFICE. Applicable dates are as follows:

October 20--Money received deadline to meet one of the requirements for Gold Seal Chapter Award of Merit (Don't delay on this one! Payment online can even be made by credit card and then reimbursed by the chapter.)
February 1--Money received deadline to be eligible for section conference (competition).
February 1--Professional Membership Dues Received for State Project Recognition and for L. Byram Bates Memorial Scholarships--Money Received.
March 1--Money received deadline to be eligible for state and national conference (competition). However, please note that if a member is registered for an SLC event with an earlier deadline, then that member's dues must be paid by that time.
