Why Should I Join CA FBLA?Students

The best people to which you can pose this question are your peers who have already joined, and have had incredible experiences with FBLA. We know that you’ll get an opportunity to try some career skill building competitive events that will grow your talents and help you get a job and/or get you into that college in your future. You’ll learn how to excel at job interviews, build resumes, talk to accomplished business professionals in your community, and speak in front of an audience. You'll also have the opportunity to work on different community service projects to make a difference and stand out from the crowd when you apply for college or a job!

You’ll also get to build a network with business professionals that can help you in your college and career long after you leave high school. This is something no other CTSO offers, and it’s probably one of the most important things you can build while you’re in high school.   If you want to find out more about California FBLA's Middle Level program, click HERE.

And finally, FBLA is just plain fun! On many school campuses FBLA has become THE organization to join, and that number is growing all of the time!!  Our leadership conferences host excellent keynote speakers with inspiring and relevant business leadership messages for our members. We listen to our members and do our best to add in fun skill-building activities in our conferences that allow members to interact, and give you an opportunity to learn from other chapters.

There is no better time than right now to join FBLA! You can influence our future as an organization, and your future as a leader!

Do I have to do competitive events if I don’t want to?

You’re not obligated to do anything specific in FBLA. It’s up to you what you want to learn about, how you want to go about it, and whether or not you compete. We highly recommend to all of our members that you try some kind of competition that interests you, so you can learn a lot more about a subject and practice your skills. But if you truly don’t want to compete, and you still want to be a member, we encourage you to do that too. You can work on community service projects with your chapter members, and learn about leadership as you participate in meetings and programs offered by your chapter at your school, as well as at Fall Leadership Development Institutes and the State Leadership Conference in the spring of each year.

When someone asks me to summarize my high school career in one word, I
would say "FBLA". This organization showed me how to set goals and the
commitment needed to chase after them. Most importantly, FBLA helped
me become more confident not only in myself, but my in abilities as
well. I know FBLA will continue to empower young leaders and I'm so
thankful to have been a part of this life-changing organization.

    How do I get started?

If your school has a chapter, simply meet with the chapter Adviser or send them an email. Not sure if your school has a chapter? Contact us and we'll find out for you!

If your school doesn’t have a chapter, you have a few options. You can gather up 5 (or more!) friends and see if you can start a chapter with a teacher in your school who is willing to be your Advisor. Have them check out the website and reach out to us. Check out our "How to Start a Chapter" page for more information.
